We often talk about how long it took for us to finalize the ingredients that are in our bars and that is because we didn’t want any nasties in there. We wanted NON-GMO ingredients, a marvelous macronutrient breakdown, and a gut-friendly bar to boycott the bloat. So when you look at the ingredients panel of our bars; and with the launch of the Noway Mallow Bar we wanted to give an insider look at the purpose of each ingredient, no fillers, each has its purpose.
We have the following ingredients:
Bovine collagen Peptides
Like our other noway bar and our noway protein we use hydrolyzed collagen peptides and the key take home from this is the peptides. Peptides act like an instructional tool, they are absorbed intact and delivered to the site to function as the protein is intended to. In this case its collagen. So, all of your ligaments, tendons, fascia, hair, skin, nails, joints, etc. that are all comprised of collagen can benefit from a collagen peptide. Remember, its still a protein source too so it can be added to contribute to your total protein macro goal. There is a full serve of Body Balance collagen peptides in each bar.
NON-GMO Corn Fibre
One aspect of the current Bar market that we noticed when doing our research on the ones currently available to consumers is that the Fibre yield was so low and most adults require around 25-30g of fiber a day. This often is consumed well under the recommended dose each day. So, currently, the Noway Bars contain 9g and the Mallow Bars contain 5.5g of fiber. We chose NON-GMO corn fiber as it’s very easily used by the body as a pre-biotic Fibre so not only do you get the benefits of dietary fiber intake, it helps out the little critters in your gut too!
Non-GMO corn is used as a natural preservative for the bars to prolong the natural ingredients shelf life. There is no added sugar to the bars from this ingredient, it does not contribute any added sugar. A much healthier alternative to many other bar preservatives.
Because we could. Because who doesn’t love delicious Belgian chocolate, that still fits in a beautiful macro profile and adds a whole new depth of taste intrigue for an already interesting taste sensation.
There is a trace amount of this in the Belgian chocolate, we have chosen to list it to be transparent. It is extremely hard to source dairy-free chocolate of this quality. The amounts present are very minimal.
Erythritol and Stevia
We chose to use both of these natural sweeteners as they are gentle in the gut, add depth to the flavor profile and also satisfy the front and back of the Palette making sure that the bitter and super sweet profiles are evened out for a rounded taste.
this helps with the fluffy like nature and texture of the bar and also aids in adding additional protein to round the bar up to 21g of protein per serve.
We often get told that collagen is not a complete protein, because it is missing tryptophan from the amino acid profile. So this addition of tryptophan makes this a complete protein.
We compared our Noway bars with the big players in the bar market for you to have a look at the Macro and additive comparisons:
