We have all fallen for it…
You know what I am talking about. The whole omega 3 to 6 ratio thing. I bet you have read plenty of sensational breaking news reports, magazine articles, brochures and flyers where it is stated as gospel that you and every other Australian has been eating too many omega 6 vegetable oils and a disgracefully low level of omega 3 oil in your diet at a ratio of half a million to one, where it should be 4 to 1 or 2 to 1. It makes for a great read because at the end of the end of the article, all you have to do is pop some fish oil and magically, all your omega what-ever levels will magically balance and your inflammation will then vanish along with all of your worries.
When I studied nutrition, we were told omega 3’s fixed everything and for years and I chowed down on fish oils and krill oil and assumed the oils would all somehow balance.
Are you aware that there are equally important oils; such as the omega-5, omega-7 and omega-9 that have profound health benefits?
Or did you believe (like I did for years) that all you needed was to supplement with omega 3’s?
The question that needs to be asked here is that do Australians all really eat so unbalanced? Sure, some do, but most people I talk to who engage in regular exercise, are using a diet strategy like “low carb”, “gluten free” or “paleo” diets and hit the gym or are training for something eat better / different than the dreaded ‘most Australians’. Athletes care about what they eat and consume far better foods than the stereotypical Aussie we see checking out of the supermarket with their trolleys loaded with refined foods, sugars, margarine and soft drinks.
Don’t get me wrong here. Fish and krill oils have a mountain of data promoting their use but surely the answer to all of our oil problems can’t just be seafood deficiency? Surely, we can get these essential compounds from other foods. Nature is smarter than that.
You can’t discriminate here. There are more than two types of oils in the world so why not take a beneficial mix that includes all of them?
Nature knows best – AMP-V to the rescue
ATP Science understands that nature knows best and by obtaining a full spectrum of fatty acids, they will work synergistically together to provide profound health effects in the body. AMP-V is like nothing else on the market, it provides a variety of fatty acids, lipids and volatile oils such as omega’s 3, 5, 6, 7, 9; conjugated linoleic acid, conjugated linolenic acid, coconut oil, peppermint oil and pomegranate oil. This combination of lipids and oils can increase your body’s ability to:
- Burn fat.
- Improve strength and performance.
- Regulate your appetite and metabolism.
- Offer incredible anti-inflammatory.
- Immune modulating actions.
Why AMP-V is a more balanced approach?
AMP-V provides the body with a spectrum of fatty acids such as omega 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 along with other lipids and oils that work synergistically to offer profound health benefits.
The diagram below (figure one) shows the spectrum of omegas that are found naturally in food and clearly demonstrates that it is not just an ‘omega 3-6’ comparison.

OK, you have taken the full gamut of omegas…now what?
Simple. Allow your body to convert them into all the ‘oil metabolites’ beneficial for wellness in the ratios that YOU need to supplement YOUR diet.
However, in certain circumstances, nutrients are required for this conversion.
One example of the highly beneficial oil metabolites is DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) found in oily fish along with Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Interestingly EPA and DHA are even found in vegan fish! Not just the fish that eat fish (or supplement with fish or krill oil). This is one of the reasons people have dived into fish oils at the expense of all other oils. DHA is a great metabolites and highly beneficial but as mentioned earlier, not the only great omega metabolite. Here is where it gets interesting.
Were you aware that consuming beneficial herbs, such as turmeric can beneficially drive your DHA levels up? So how does turmeric, that contains no DHA, cause DHA levels to rise?
In a recent study, it was found that curcumin (a chemical found in turmeric) caused the liver to increase the production of DHA. This means that you can supplement with other omega 3 oils without taking fish oil and compounds like turmeric can increase the conversion of all omega 3 oils to DHA. The turmeric group had higher levels of DHA than the group supplementing with DHA directly.
Makes sense? Below is how curcumin boosts the biochemical enzymes involved in the production of DHA and is an example of the reason to spike or supplement your diet with phytonutrients, such as CORT-RX.

Vitamin and mineral cofactors
Interconversion of fatty acids requires cofactors such as magnesium, vitamin C and vitamin B complex. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies may cause poor conversion. Top up using products like MULTIFOOD to make sure you have the basics covered.
What are the other benefits of AMP-V?
We have discussed the benefits of supplementing with all the omega fatty acids in balanced levels, such as the ones found in AMP-V and not just picking your favourite one. However, there are numerous other reasons to take AMP-V.
AMP-V is a powerful fat burner when used in conjunction with strategic exercise and diet plan that embraces fasted cardio and keto/low carb/high fat diets. Its actions include enhancing the release of stored fat from adipocytes, enhance fatty acid oxidation and enhances thermogenesis.
Burning fat as fuel is a complexed process and is heavily influenced by an individual’s hormonal profile and nutrient status. Biochemical reactions and metabolic pathways are activated when the body is in lipolysis, relying on different hormonal signalling’s, cofactors, amino acids and lipids available in the body. AMP-V contains powerful lipolytic such as grapefruit peel, peppermint oil, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) to support the body’s pathways in fat burning.
These oils also work on the pathways of Activate AMP-activated kinase (AMP-K) and Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR).
Switch on AMP-K
AMP-K is a sensor of cellular energy charge and a ‘metabolic master switch’. When our body becomes ATP depleted during training and exercise, AMP-K increases; turning off ATP-consuming processes and turning on catabolic pathways that generate ATP. Activation of AMP-K during exercise switches on fatty acid oxidation while switching off fatty acid synthesis. This process allows the body to turn stored fat in adipose tissue into energy.
Boosting the 3 types of PPAR
Fatty acids are essential for the functioning of PPAR receptors which are involved in the control and regulation of metabolic pathways involved in energy homeostasis. The main role pf PPARS is to regulate gene expressions involved in lipid and glucose metabolism. Disruption of this pathways contributes to obesity, diabetes and cancers due to increased oxidative stress, and interference of metabolic pathways. PPARs also regulate the inflammatory cascade linked to metabolic homeostasis in the liver, adipose cells, skeletal muscle and cardiovascular system.

Take Home Message
Don’t continue to fall for the ‘everyone is the same’ and we all ‘need more omega 3’s’ game. You may be consuming lots of omega 3’s already and may not need any more. Supplement with an oil supplement that contains all of the omegas, like nature intended as well as the fat burning and inflammation dosing you need. Once you consume the essential oils, make sure you are getting enough of the cofactors in your multi-food supplement to make your oils ‘sing’ and ensure they head down the right biochemical pathway. Ensure you have a multi-food supplement to ensure you are getting all of the goodies found in nature to convert these oils through to the beneficial metabolites, such as DHA. The great thing about taking supplements like AMP-V and Multi Food combined is that you are getting the complete package just as nature intended.
